Welcome From the Alpha Iota Chapter President

Hello everyone,

My name is Regina Kyle.  I serve as the Athens State Alpha Iota Chapter President for Delta Mu Delta. Delta Mu Delta is an international business honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence. Being a Delta Mu Delta member can benefit a student for life.  When a student qualifies for membership and joins, they earn a lifetime membership allowing them to add this achievement to their resume. In 2015, the national Delta Mu Delta organization will provide $58,000 in scholarships to help exceptional students continue their education. Also, if you plan on obtaining government employment, membership with Delta Mu Delta fulfills one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level.

I am very proud to be serving as president of our Delta Mu Delta chapter. This is an honor for me to have been chosen. Delta Mu Delta currently has 2 advisors- Professor Kim Bell and Professor Kim Roberts. Both advisors have been uplifting and encouraging to me throughout my college career with Athens State University.

Just as a reference point, Delta Mu Delta is an invitation-only honor society. Students with at least 12 hours at Athens State and who are in the top 20% of their junior or senior class based on overall GPA are considered.

I would encourage any student who would like to become a member to work hard. Every major is different, so strive to be the best that you can be in your chosen field.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at rkyle@my.athens.edu.  Best wishes!

How Do I Become a Member of Delta Mu Delta?

Membership in Delta Mu Delta is by invitation.  Throughout the year, the chapter advisors will run a report with College of Business students to identify those who have at least 12 hours at Athens State and are in the top 20% of their junior or senior class based on overall GPA.  The GPA capturing the top 20% will vary semester to semester, so there is no absolute GPA we can quote.

If you meet the requirements, you will receive an invitation through your Athens State email account with further details for joining.  Thank you for your interest in the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Mu Delta!

Delta Mu Delta Membership

Delta Mu Delta is an International Honor Society in Business.  DMD are the Greek letters in the Society's name and stand for Dia Matheseos Dynamis, signifying Delta Mu Delta's motto: Through Knowledge, Power - the power to manage creatively for social and economic good.

Becoming a member of Delta Mu Delta is an honor indicative of earnest, intelligent purpose and rewarding achievement.  To be considered for membership into the Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Mu Delta, a candidate must be a College of Business major, have completed one full semester at Athens State University, and rank within the top 20% of the overall class.

The benefits of Delta Mu Delta membership are as follows:

Lifetime Recognition for Outstanding Academic Achievement
Delta Mu Delta membership provides recognition for a lifetime.  As the highest international recognition our business students can earn, it is appropriate to include Delta Mu Delta membership on one's resume and to wear the Key and display certificate with pride.
Networking Opportunities
Many campus chapters provide opportunities for members to meet together with corporate leaders for networking opportunities and to hear speakers discuss current business issues.  All members can access our unique inCircle community, exclusive to Delta Mu Delta members.  Here you can create or join regional groups, business specialty groups, school or chapter groups, etc. In addition, employers offer job opportunities only to our high-achieving membership.
Scholarship Program
Students enrolled in the business program at a school with a chapter of Delta Mu Delta can be eligible to compete in the Society's annual scholarship awards program.  The Society annually honors academic excellence in the study of business to students across the country.
Acknowledgment for Federal Employment
Membership in Delta Mu Delta fulfills one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level in numerous professional and technical positions within federal service.
Lifetime Contact Through the Newsletter
The Society publishes The Vision twice yearly for distribution to the membership.
